One of the principal aims of the Oxford Tolkien Network is to promote and support academic research on J. R. R. Tolkien and his works, within the University of Oxford and beyond. As part of this commitment, the Network seeks to encourage student research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In particular, it has supported and promoted undergraduate and master’s dissertations devoted to Tolkien, his writings, and the wider literary, linguistic, historical, and cultural contexts in which his work can be studied.
Below is a list of some of the most recent undergraduate dissertations on Tolkien and related topics written by University of Oxford students, including visiting students to the Oxford Tolkien Network.
